Joseph leaves the cobbles this week
As the oldest sibling of a large family, Joseph (played by William Flanagan) has been feeling lost and neglected.
So when his grandmother Linda Hancock (Jacqueline Leonard) returns to Weatherfield and suggests he moves to Portugal to live with her, the schoolboy considers it.
Coming up, Linda calls at No.5 to collect him from school.
Reflecting on recent events, and despite the rift Linda’s return has caused within the family, Chesney (Sam Aston) admits to Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) it’s time he accepted Joseph’s departure.
Later, he meets up with Linda and tells her she can give Joseph the life he deserves better than he ever could as an overwhelmed and swamped father of five children.
Shockingly, Linda calls at No.5 again, explaining that she is due to fly back to Portugal that same evening due to an emergency.
Joseph asserts that he’ll go with her and Chesney reels in shock alongside Gemma.
However, Chesney recognises that this is probably his best chance at making Joseph happy.
Outside their home, an emotional Chesney, Gemma, Bernie, Fiz, Hope and Ruby wave Joseph and Linda off in their taxi.
But Hope has a devastating secret to tell Chesney.
